Hello Guys,

Someone mentioned to me that anatomy class is a pre-req for D.O schools but after researching online I don't see any school that actually requires anatomy.

So my question is, Is anatomy course a pre-req for D.O schools? If so, can you please list schools that require anatomy as pre-reqs?

Thank you for your time!!

Download the 2016 CIB

It lists all the requirements for the DO schools. Need more specific information, check out the schools websites or email them.

I can't recall any school that REQUIRES anatomy (a few might recommend it), but the CIB will reveal all.

That person is probably going to an O.D. school.

Somebody doesn't know what they're talking about.

Anatomy is NOT a pre-req at my school.

Highly unlikely; usually interviews dont become defending why you didnt do something as much as why you chose the route you did.

Penalty for unnecessary fear mongering. 5 yard penalty and loss of down!

I know the thread is a few months old 🤔 but I had a quick question...
Because it is not considered a pre-req, would it be frowned upon to retake an anatomy course that you previously took in class and retake it as a hybrid course (lab/ meet once a week for questions/ exams are in the classroom)?

Thank you 🙂

Wont be frowned upon at all. Unless you fail the course, so dont fail the course!

No but it's recommended along with other upper science courses

Definitely not frowned upon, but may not count for grade replacement if it's not the same kind of class/same number of credits, etc. Admittedly I'm not 100% sure how that works.

I wish I would have had exposure to anatomy prior to med school, even though it isn't a pre-requisite.
