So we get the option to buy the academic regalia...but should I? I can't see any use for it other than taking up precious closet space. 🙄

Our school provided us our academic regalia. They looked for an online supplier of graduation gowns -> http://www.gradshop.com/academic-regalia/doctoral.html for the sake of uniformity. So i guess it depends on your school's policy or whatever. But for me personally, you should definitely wear your regalia. You can have the option of renting it somewhere instead of buying.

I wish we had the option to rent. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with the garb currently sitting at the foot of my bed.

We didn't directly pay for it, but I'm sure the price was rolled into our tuition somehow.

Same at NYCOM, It was "given for free" to us. However Im sure the fee is built into a graduation fee somewhere in the tuition. Still glad I didnt have to shell out extra money at the end though...

I see no problem wearing it when visiting patients.

At least we kinda got our moneys worth out of the graduation fee though. Cap/Gown, Diploma frame, Hooding ceremony in at tills theatre, and the dinner dance at the carletun. At least they didnt charge us for just the cap gown.
