is anyone dropping interviews after they got accepted?

I got into a school that is close and a good match for me and I have a lot more interviews to goto still. Is anyone in the same boat as me that is considering dropping interviews after they got accepted into a place they like?

Sure, you should. I'd figure that quite a few adcoms are waiting to see who drops in November so they can offer more interviews.

I dropped a bunch of interviews after I got my first acceptance. It's totally acceptable, as long as you do it in advance.

I'm dropping about half of mine so far. I just found out today that I got into a school that I definately want to go to more than another one that I have an interview at in a week. I definately want to drop the interview to save $, but do you guys think it might be rude/unacceptable/etc. to decline an interview only a week in advance?

anyway, i'd cancel. i'm sure admissions ppl are used to this.

Wow, you dropped the morning of the interview 😱 That makes me feel much better about dropping a week in advance. Cool.

i was the ultimate jerk when i totally forgot to tell tulane that i wasn't going to their interview and remembered the day after my scheduled date...

i feel like such an a$$

I have been accepted to the school I want to go to but I still have nothing in writing from them so what I did (after consulting the wise people of SDN) was took later date for interviews but now another one is coming up on 15th and i still have to hear from them. (The admissions office confirmed that I am in but they wouldn't say if I should cancel rest of my interviews....they said it was up to me 🙁) .... only if they will send that letter

i took a risk and cancelled three of my interviews before i got the official letter of acceptance. then i got the letter and cancelled another two! i figured there was a very very slim chance that i would have chosen any of those schools over the one that i'd gotten into, so i said "what the heck!" and saved me some money. except the money is all in the form of airline credit with flyi and southwest. boo.

mr seeds, not to worry. I was also concerned about cancelling one of my interviews a week in advance (actually 4 days), but I went ahead and did it, and they had no problems with it. they were grateful that I'd informed them!

Ohio State: Nov 15th
EVMS: Nov 19th
Iowa: Dec 15th

Will canel two other on monday .... Wake Forest Dec 13th and VCU Nov 22nd .... so if you are interested in an earlier interview (if you have a later date) call them on monday as well ...

If it weren't for the rest of us who don't have interviews at said school I'd just say screw it and don't worry about not telling them until the day of as some people later in the thread have said. However, to be courteous you should let them know a bit in advance so they can fit someone else in the slot who would potentially matriculate.
