I might have to graduate this summer because I am planning on dropping a course needed to graduate.

Because of this, I won't have my B.S. until after I start dental school. This is because it takes a few weeks to issue/approve the degree after classes have ended. Anyone else in a similar position? I am worried that I might lose my acceptance. The class will be done before dental school, but the degree will be processing. Anyone else in a similar position?

Don't drop the class and you won't have a problem. Just to be on the safe side.

Right now I have a C after a GIGANTIC curve. But, there are only 3 exams and a final. I am terrified that I will get a C- and get my acceptance taken away. I've never been in this situation ever. I am a straight A student and throughout 4 years I've never had a professor like this one. I'm not blaming him, I'm just saying that I think it's a gamble to stay in his course because I have a good possibility of failing the next exam.

So, to be safe, I'm thinking of dropping. I already have permission from my dental school to drop. But I'm not sure if they know that I will not have the degree in my hand on the first day of class (so to speak). This course is required to graduate, it's also a pre-req. I'm just wondering if anyone else has not had their degree before entering? The degree would be issued a few weeks after the course is completed.

I am calling the school to tell them about the degree issued after school starts and see what they say. I was just looking for some insight right now because I am going to be waiting the entire weekend..worrying about this. Thanks guys

Is there some kind of stipulation that says if you get a C- in this course, you will get your acceptance taken away? I think most people have a few bad grades, a C- doesn't seem like a grade in a course you would get an acceptance taken way for to me, but obviously you would know better based on the acceptance terms and feedback from school. Just thinking out loud.

Yes that's exactly it. I cannot get a C-. But I can withdraw IF they okay it, which they did. Thing is, I only have a C right now...so there's a very real chance that I could get a C-. The curve is so big that one question is a difference in a letter grade on the exam. That's how poor my class did.

I will not have a degree (B.S.) until after school starts because my undergrad issues them about 5 weeks after the summer semester ends.

My question is, is there anyone else in a similar situation where your degree won't be issued until after dental school starts? Thank you.

That is pretty stressful.

About the degree - I had a different situation, but when I was talking to my counsellor, she said I could get a letter from the university saying that degree had been completed, the official certificate etc would take a while though but all you would need is the letter to show dental schools. maybe look into that. I think the university should accommodate your request regardless based on your situation, see a counselor and discuss the situation.

That is great advice. I will look into it, thank you so much.
