Please let me know. I"m really worried! 3.88 GPA, 30 MCAT. Considering I'm a very generic applicant, I want to make sure I can get into the mid-tier schools I'm aiming for.

Why do you plan on applying the first week of July? Why not start and finish everything now?

I'm definitely trying to finish everything now, but worst case scenario is applying in first week of July if my personal statement doesn't get put together the way I want. I was just wondering. Is it too late? will I still have a fair shot at getting into med school like UIC, loyola, rush, etc.?

July isn't really that late. Just be sure to hustle now! Good luck with your cycle. 😀

You are not a "very generic applicant".
You can simply reference https://www.aamc.org/download/321518/data/2012factstable25-4.pdf
to see that you are in a great spot for applying. The first week of July is not even close to being "too late."
You're fine. Focus on important things like ace'ing your interview.

Actually for rolling admissions like Wayne State University, you are doing yourself a service by applying later. This means that the first wave of students who are exemplary will get in and maybe students who wait and apply even starting in September will be part of a less competitive pool. Good luck.

😕 I'm not sure about that.

If they don't take invite you to interview the first time around then they will usually keep your application on file until the end of the cycle. You usually only get rejected if you absolutely don't stand a chance at the school and that doesn't really have anything to do with the strength of the other applicants. Plus, even if you were fighting in a less competitive pool, you will be fighting a larger number of people for fewer open seats. A Sept/Oct completion means a Jan/Feb/March interview. For two of my Feb interviews, the class was already filled up by the time I got there. There's no advantage to applying early. At least that's how I understand it.
