Is being disadvantaged looked upon the same as being a minority?

sorry i have to bring this up, but im really curious.
i was looking through mdapps and most of the people who i saw get in to the top schools with below 3.5's were minorities and a couple non minorities. so i am wondering are those people who got in with less than 3.5's also disadvantaged?

No they aren't the same thing.

I don't even think anyone knows if or how much being a disadvantaged applicants really helps.
