is COLUMBIA even a POSSIBILITY with a 25? is there even a remote chance for an interview?? would you guys bother? is the extension a sign to apply????

Their self-reported average MCAT score for their entering classes has been around 35 and change. Obviously they weigh the MCAT score very highly. You may want to look at other schools.

to the original poster, ignore most of the responses. yes, you have a chance, and since Columbia sends out a lot of secondaries, be sure to grab the spotlight during this time and during your initial essay. if you were applying to some of the publics across the country, I would say it would be alot tougher as they weed out most applicants even before reading their apps (i.e. formulas and equations), but the privates are more willing to read your entire app before deciding your fate. good luck

URM = fast pass?? ummm, i'm busting my ass just as hard as anyone else (if not more) in here and i'm mexican. i'm not expecting to get in just because i'm mexican, in fact i think that concept is freakin' ridiculous! i havn't applied anywhere yet, but don't tell me AMCAS asks if you're a URM.....

With an MCAT of 25, there is little possibility of acceptance to Columbia much less any MD school.

I wouldnt. in this process you need every advantage you can get. but i give you mad props if you go through it w/o using the race card.

You are an URM (underrepresented minority) if you are black, hispanic, or any other race/ethnicity, that has a lower ratio of race-specific physicians per number of people, than the overall population as a whole. Geez, like people are afraid to say "black", "latino", etc. Whats all this disneyland crap? Come on people, you're going to be doctors talking to black folks about their racially disporportionate tendency to develop certain diseases. Don't tell me you're going to use some theme park analogy on that too. Spit it out and flush the P.C.

Congratulations to me!! This is the first time I have ever been accused of PC.
Funny though. The accusation came from someone who sounded quite PCish.
I am sorry if I offended anyone by continuing the DisneyWorld analogy. I thought it was funny, but I guess I need to work on my sensitivity, and somehow at the same time not be so PC. This is going to be tough.

okay i guess i've been blind and out of touch with the whole affirmative action deal, but i thought race cards were not allowed. i honestly had no idea it was a "fastpass" as you say.... if so, then hand me the mickey ears, lol, as you say i will take any boost i can take... but by the same token, i would not take advantage of this, nor would i rely soley on it. I will continue to bust my ass in school, work, and EC's

elvin, it isnt really a "fastpass"...kidna just joking around...u have to be a competitive appl like everyone else...and theres no shame in putting URM down on ur app...
