i am facing a very tough time getting the final degree certificate which comes from the university.i have all the original documents (marksheets,internship completion etc etc) excluding the degree certificate.i am also a registered dentist in india.what i want to know is if the degree certificate is required anywhere in the process of admission in DDS/MS?
i am from india and presently in US.i think i would be able to get it only when i visit india next.

Helloo u need a degree certificate to get into the school here..even i didn,t got my degree certificate before coming to states..i came here after finishing my internship..i requested them to send my degree certificate to my home address in india...every university has this option..u don,t have to go to india personally to get the degree certificate...from which university u graduated..i graduated from rajiv gandhi univertsity

usually the university people mail the certificate directly to the address provided by you i mean the home address in india
sometimes it might take alittle longer but u can always call them and enquire abt the status of ur certificate
one of my fren had the same problem and she faxed an authorisation letter to the rajiv gandhi university, explaining her problem and the urgency of the situation and i personally went and collected the certificate and mailed it to her thereafter. In her case even her parents had moved down to U.S and there was no one to collect the certificate in india.
i was asked to show my dental college id and they asked me couple of questions and i too explanied the whole situation and they did consider

Yes, one need the graduation diploma and license to practice in his/her country in order to apply for a program in a university in US. One also need the courses that he/she has completed in their country. Then you will send all the papers to ECE or other institution for evaluation; they will need your diploma, license to practise, highschool diploma - copies!

Then, one may send to ADA the request to take NBDE Part 1/2.

hi... can u lemme knw if provisional degree is accepted during the admissions??? they post the original degree after one year. that would mean i cannot get into dental school till one year???

A provisional degree is not accepted. However, most universities can release the original degree in advance of the convocation.

dear infinity and gags,
so as to apply to various universities,, you do need your degree,, it is important.Some universities specificly mention that they donot accept provisional degrees.
Also,,, some institutes may also ask for your Registration with the dental council.Usually the university will post the degree but in case of a genuine situation,, i guess you may authorise someone back home to collect it.

As far as name change is concerned,, do not worry much about it as worrying will help you little,, just wait for all the documents to arrive and once you have them,,just change your name legally with the help of a lawer,, all will fall in place.
