Is emailing adcoms a bad idea?

I applied in June/July to both MD and DO schools, i've heard back from a decent amount of DO schools but it's been pretty quiet for MD schools. No R or WL either. I was wondering if I should email/call adcoms about the status of my application? Is that considered rude or is it normal to do?

Read "While you are waiting," the article published last year. That said, you can always email but don't expect an answer that favors you.

A healthier way of looking at this (even though it may trigger some tender snowflakes) is to consider yourself rejected until you get that Accept email in your Inbox.

Until then, you should be working to improve your app.
