Hi! just wondering if you all thought First-Aid covered what you needed to know for the Behavioral Sciences/Psych qs. I started reading the Kaplan BS book but it's taking me too long to get through and i am looking for ways to cut corners since my exam date is in 2wks. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's enough for the behavioral/psych, but in my opinion is NOT enough for biostats. My test had a lot of weirdo biostats on it that WAS covered in UW pretty well (I just didn't pay close enough attention to it).

Good Luck.

it does not even come close, go over kaplan, or BRS behavioral.
behavioral is an important topic on usmle and the questions are tricky compared with the coverage provided in first aid
dont make a mistake

Not at all. Supplement with BRS Behavioral or something else.

I agree with Luba Licious, on my test FA was more than enough for psych questions. they were surprisingly easy. I only 1-2 embryo questions which was annoying to me since I read the hy book and memorized all of FA. I also had lots of biostats, if you have a good foundation/understanding FA is enough in my opinion. good luck~

when you say lot's of biostats, how much are we talking? 5 q/block? I ****ing despise biostats. I can solve them usually, but not in 72 miserable seconds. i expect to get maybe 50% of these right on test day. also, it seems that no amount of studying can prepare me for biostats questions. I'll feel like I understand a concept, then uworld will ask it in a slightly unfamiliar way, and i'm doomed. my lowest grade ever in school was calc, and i've always struggled with math. thought maybe i'd get away from it with medicine. not so lucky.

Only a couple with calculations, and probably not too many biostat questions in the grand scheme of things (maybe 5-10 total, can't remember) but they stick out in my mind because I wasn't sure of the answer to them. Not that they were hard if you knew what you were doing, I just didn't. I should have paid closer attention to the UW biostat questions because they were extremely similar. The quote questions were very easily answered with FA though. I'm sorry I can't remember more (it was only a few days ago so it should be fresh in my mind, but I've blocked it all out 🙂 ).

honestly BRS is a pretty quick read. If diligent you could get through it in a day.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific about what I meant by "lots of biostats". It was more than I was expecting in AMOUNT (1-3/section? my test was 1 week ago), since I got almost no embryo and relatively easy psych questions. These were the subjects that in my mind were "crammable", unlike more concept-based subjects like physio, path, etc. That said, the biostats on my test, although more in amount than expected, could be answered with a mastery of FA. An odds ratio question comes to mind... totally doable. No need to panic. This was my experience on my test, it was probably different for everyone. None of these equations require calculus, just simple math.
