Is it a big deal if I don't do well in any of my labs?

So far I'm more than halfway done with the prereqs and I have As in all of the lectures, but my lab grades are as follows: B+, B, A-, C, B-, B-, B- (my school is on the quarter system). Labs are only worth 1 credit and I think I'm just not as motivated when it comes to them. I'm working in a research lab and I get really positive feedback from my PI, so I'm hoping that that will demonstrate my competence in research. My performance in lab hasn't really hurt my GPA (BCPM is 3.85). Is anyone going to care (assuming that this trend continues)?

they probably will take note of it and maybe ask you about it. If everything else is good i doubt it'd be that big of a deal though

I'd trying getting higher grades in labs more often if your low grades are simply due to lack of motivation.

If you have a good GPA probably won't matter so much. But why are they low? This might be a good question to practice answering without making yourself look bad. Who knows.

Honestly, I just really really dislike labs. It's hard for me to do well in a course that I couldn't care less about, and they're only 1 credit which wasn't much of a motivator. I'll try and do better, but it sounds like it's not a huge deal. Thanks!

I pretty much have the same problem with labs. I "earned" C's in both of Biology labs freshman year. Besides that though, I pretty much earned A's (even in Chem lab!) in everything else with the exception of two classes that year.

I know what you mean, the lab seems pointless/boring, it's only 1 hour, and the TA's (at least mine) were not particularly helpful or that great in my opinion. With all of that, it's pretty hard to motivate yourself. Especially when you know you're getting A's in everything else.

I tried harder to care and ended up with a B in my third lab, Microbiology, so that's a nice improvement for myself I suppose!

OP, I wouldn't stress on the labs too much if they don't impact your GPA significantly. I'd be happy to have B's in my first two labs! You're definitely in great standing, grade-wise!
