Is it a good idea to start shadowing freshman year?

Is that even possible?

Would dental schools look favorably on you clearly having your mind set on dentistry for all of your undergrad years? Or will it just be a waste of time?

Thanks.

Of course it's possible. Start shadowing as soon as possible so you can also spend time on other aspects of your EC during your second and third year.

Go for it, but your grades come first. If I had to choose between getting an A in chemistry or 10 hours/week of shadowing in your freshman year, I'd choose the former. If you can do both, than everything is cool.

YES!! I started shadowing around my junior/senior year of high school (I'm a junior undergrad now). It's never too early to start.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

^ This is the best advice for your situation however.

I started my senior year in high school and I'll be assisting all this summer before d-school starts. Start early!

Yeah if you shadow in the summer time you have no school to worry about (unless you're taking summer classes, then you could shadow after classes are over).
