Hello thanks for clicking in 🙂

For the "why apply to our school" question on one of my secondaries, I am thinking about mentioning the fact that this particular school is in an area with a very large population of a particular ethnicity (not white). My family and I belong to this ethnicity. My parents will eventually move to the area I would practice in, and it would be a huge benefit for them if it had many people that shared their culture and spoke the same language, since my parents don't speak English that well. Is this appropriate to mention on the secondary?? Of course there are other reasons I am applying to the school, but let's face it, most medical schools are pretty similar with that they are offering so those other reasons are not extremely unique to this particular school.

I'm decidedly a non-expert but that sounds like a wonderful idea. Anything unique and genuine that you bring to the school is a good thing.

I think it's a good idea, and appropriate in this context. I am considering the same thing in selecting my schools (looking for communities sharing my ethnicity).
