hey guys,
i applied late (finished secondaries mid november) and i'm only finally beginning to hear back from schools. i have 3 upcoming interviews so far, MCO on march 8, NYMC, march 31st and albany april 28th. these interviews seem so late and i wish i can schedule them earlier but those are the earliest available dates. what are my chances of getting accepted with interviews these late? will those interviews just put me on the alternate list in case people they've accepted declines their offer?

it all depends if the schools are rolling or non rolling.

if they are rolling admissions there will be less spots available for you when you get those interviews.

for non rolling schools...you will most likely interview before their decision date so you will get your file reviewed with everyone else that interviewed before you (for the most part that is). some non rolling schools do accept a small number of people early and mass accept later on.

but yeah.
my friend interviewed late at a UC (rolling) and he was put on the waitlist pretty quickly.

but still you got some interviews and you have some say in if they will give you an acceptances from however many they have left if you impress at the interview.

good luck.

call the schools periodically to check for cancellations. that is how i got my albany date so early.

So, from what i hear, when you interview in April, keep in mind that med schools are required to have a number of acceptances equal to the size of their incoming class by March 15th. People can hold all the acceptances they want until May 15th.

The three schools you mentioned? I dont know about MCO. The other two have decent waitlist movement. A friend of mine got into NYMC after interviewing in April.

im starting to think that if your app is good and you get a late interview cause you turned your app in late, then its very good...you will be competing with not so good as you people, making you look better, you get a good chance when they compare you to them. so if the reason your getting the interviews late is cause you app late, then i think youll do just fine. i hope you kinda see what im saying. i hope i dont offend anyone.
oh as someone mentioned, better late than never. plus you wouldnt be invited if you didnt have a good chance of getting in...trust me they dont want the extra work for no reason.
good luck.

you should definitely do this!

It's bad to have no interviews. If they're interviewing you, you're a solid applicant. They are not in the game of wasting time. They've already cashed your check. So, go in their confidently because someone has seen something about you they like.
