Do they write better LoRs?

Also, are they more selective about who they would be willing to write for?

I think the consensus you are likely to hear here is that people who know you, who can vouch for your intellect and attitude, who you have directly worked with, are likely to write a better LoR. If you happen have one or more of those who have been in adcoms, why not!
