Hi all - wondering if it would be a big no-no to call or email my faculty interviewer and ask about feedback as to why I was waitlisted or rejected? My sense is this is not a good idea, but just wondering!
Absolutely not! If the interviewer is even privy to the decisions of the adcom (not all interviewers are) it is a confidential matter that can't be shared. If you get no offers at all, you can ask in late May or June (the slow season) if the dean of admissions or head of the admissions office will offer you some tips for improving your application for next time.
It's not our job to give you feedback, and doing so could set up a school to be sued when a positive interviewer gets overruled by the entire Adcom.
Do you really think you're going to be told that you were:
immature
scary
looked bored
were robotic
had a flat affect
were arrogant
"meh"
couldn't answer even basic questions
were evasive

Thanks both. This whole cycle has caused me to start to question my basic instincts lol. Hearing about people who speak to the Dean when they are waitlisted had me wondering about where the line is for acceptable communication. Appreciate your candor.
