Is it just me or are some of the EK1001 physics/ bio questions super hard?

MY mcat is very soon, and i am doing these as a final review, but WOW some of these physics questions are rediculous. For example the torque ones. Are we really going to see something like it on the test?

I liked the EK Bio questions. Never looked at the Phys questions. I thought the EK Bio questions were most like the ones on the actual test.

bumpppppppp

I was a physics major and I'll be the first to say that they are hard. They are on-par with real MCAT questions, although I will say they definitely throw in a more curve balls than the real MCAT to reinforce the concepts... Or shall I say, a different "breed" of curveball than the MCAT does. Just keep trucking and don't worry if you miss a few - or even a lot - of those questions. Don't let your scores on either bring you down. Confidence is vital to success on the MCAT!

I'm a fan of the statement "Efficiency is better than time spent". In other words, It might be wise to identify your weaknesses through their lecture series books first before overwhelming yourself with all 1001 questions... That's just my two cents though. Identifying weaknesses can be a tough thing to do.

Ps. I might be a bit biased because I teach for EK. When I prepped for the test last summer, I used TBR for O Chem, Chem, and Physics along with EK Bio (along with Bio 1001) and Verbal (Along with verbal 101). I found myself consistently referring to EK's lecture books on concepts like Bernoulli's equation for clarity.. their colorful, semi-humorous top level approach is all you really need for the MCAT 🙂

I found the EK 1001 Physics problems to be really hard too, so I just tried to stop worrying so much about getting everything "right" and spend more time understanding the concepts they were trying to test. I agree that they are hard in a different way from the AAMC practice tests, and often focus on nonessential formulas/minutiae.

The best thing about EK 1001 Physics questions being hard, if you don't give up in frustration, is that over time you relax and try to make more educated guesses, which seems to be an essential MCAT skill. Also, I only do every third problem in 1001 Physics since many of the sequential questions are almost identical. If I don't do well on the first third, I go back and do a the second third, time permitting. Good luck and stay positive! :luck:

I teach for them, and personally really don't like their physics book. I don't think it explains the concepts well enough for students to have a firm grasp of the material and then they give you these questions which in my opinion, were more difficult than the ones on the actual MCAT.
