Is it OK to start a volunteering activity now and list it on the 2022 - 2023 application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I recently discovered an online listening service called "7 Cups" (Free Online Therapist & Counseling | 7 Cups). The premise is similar to crisis text line, but it's less "serious" and more for just people to talk about whatever is on their mind/need a listening shoulder. This seems like a great gig that can be done at home, so I just completed training and have been talking to some people looking for help. It's very flexible w.r.t. when/where you can do it, so I was thinking of doing it for an hour a day every day. But I worry starting an activity only a couple of months before I submit my app can look like box checking.

I have been a part of a food donation delivery volunteer service since 2020 (picking up food donations from donors such as grocery stores/restaurants, and driving them to receivers like youth/women's shelters, churches, etc.), and I'll have around 150 hours with them. This is my only non-clinical activity, though.

Since I have other volunteer activities that I have been doing since 1, 2 years ago (hospice, food donations), it wouldn't look like box-checking if I list this 7 Cups activity on my 22-23 cycle app, right?

You're fine, considering you have other activities with good longitudinal involvement. Please be clear about current completed hours vs planned future hours on the application. And hopefully, you have a good, objective Contact to attest to your involvement.
