I haven't earned any AP credits in high school (Nor do I think I will 🙁 ) My school has about 3

AP classes:
AP English
AP US History
AP World History

Unfortunately those are not subject areas which interest me. So, most likely I won't have any AP credits. Is this terrible? Will it ruin my chances at medical school? Can't I just work hard and get those credits in college? I notice everyone talking about their AP credits... and I will have none...

No, no, yes.

It shouldn't be a problem for your undergraduate--much less, medical school. You're right, you can just gain them in college. My school offered about 12-15 AP classes (of which I took about 8 tests). If you do decide to take those AP classes, I think any of those 3 would be good (in terms of credit). At least at the colleges I've seen, AP history courses tend to count for double credit (2 courses instead of 1).

I only took 1 AP class in high school (opted to take legit college courses during high school instead, and my school doesn't offer very many AP classes anyway). I got into college just fine, was offered half of tuition in scholarships, got into the honors program at my college, lived to tell the tale, etc. 😉 AP classes are a little overhyped, in my opinion. Sure, they're a nice thing to have, but I feel like students get the impression nowadays that if they don't take AP they fail at life. Yes, it's important to challenge yourself, but the number of AP classes you take isn't the end-all-be-all of how successful you will be in college or throughout the rest of your academic career. And med schools don't give a potato about what you took in high school- they only look at your college transcript. So, BREATHE. 😉

I know one girl who didn't take any AP classes and got accepted into college going for her MBA. Personally, I wouldn't want to take those classes either. Also I agree with poster 4, AP classes are nice but the test won't determine where you fall in life.

I took 5 AP classes and used 0 for AP credit. It really doesn't matter.

AP credits don't matter at all for medical school. Yea, it's nice to not take classes like English, World History, etc. in college if you already have the credits for it, but besides that it definitely won't affect where you go to college or getting into medical school.
