Just curious as I recently got my set of Kaplan lecture notes (I'm not actually taking the course and just plan on studying at home by myself) and there are a ton of pages? Any know if this is feasable? 😳

PS. I'm talking about for USMLE step 1

I would think it is possible. I did all of the home study books, which is a little less, in 2 weeks, although it is the second time i went through them

28 days? Its def. possible, to go thru the books one time and work thru all the Qs. but you're probably going to want to do Qbank too right? I think if you put in 12-14 hours a day for 28 days you should just about finish the kaplan books one time thru and get thru most of Qbank. I'd take notes while ur going thru the books just so you can see some of the material at least a couple times before you take ur exam. The books look thick but they go by fast. you can for sure do behavioral in 2 days.

All the best,
Berk

Well taking notes is definitely out now since I'm done w/ classes and am in the process of finals and shelfs right now. We get done w/ our last shelf on may 11 and I take Step 1 on june 8. Should I subsitute a smaller review like HY in place for certain subject like anatomy to save time? In reality I have less than 28 days since I will be taking a diagnostic exam a couple of days and then I have to get BLS certified (to be able to set foot on the wards for 3rd year)which knocks out a whole day as well. I'm thinking I should have given myself more time but damn, I want atleast a bit of a vaction before June 23 when we start roatations!

Hey guys,

Should I supplement the kaplan path book with BRS path or Goljan Path book? have heard the path in the kaplan books is not adequate? What do you guys think?

I supplemented the kaplan path book with Rapid review because I heard the same thing. Don't make fun of me okay....But I also did go thru the kaplan path book and wrote down all of the stuff that wasn't in Rapid review from kaplan into my rapid review book. I'm sort of paranoid. There ended up to be about 70% identical info. and an extra 20-30% that was in kaplan that wasn't in rapid review.

hmmmm...I'd wait to see you what you get on your shelf exams to see if you need more vacation time.

And about the substitution for HY? I don't think its necessary. The kaplan books look real thick but theres actually not much in them. However, they have everything in them that you need to get a 99. Take the kaplan anatomy book for example, it has embryo, histo, neuro, and gross. Its about 500pages long but some of these pages are Qs....but if you used the HY series for each of these books, your going to be reading more pages...almost 700 pages of all text with no Qs.
the only other thing I can think of to save time is use First Aid. If you really want to minimize your time, I know plenty of people that have done well using only FA and Qbank.
