Is it possible to get into an Irish school w/ C's in Chem I and Organic II

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
well as long as ur other science courses are good..and ur science gpa isn't too low, it wont kill ur application.
ofc ur undergrad gpa shudnt be low either.
i have a C in orgo 1 as well....i dont think it will make so much of a diff
and...either way...u won't know until u try!! 😉

HAHAHA, i have C's in both organic 1 and 2....my science gpa is not to HAWT either, my cum GPA is aight, and my mcat is decent....man I'm worried:S

Interesting question. I didn't do so hot either lol. Maybe a B in the first one and C+ in the second part 😛 Hope I'm not completely screwed!

Overall the negative point of my application will be my science gpa, not sure what it is. My overall is 3.4. Hopefully the fact that I got 10 in bio and 10 in physical on the mcat will help them see I'm not a complete idiot.

Yes. I had a C+ in the second semester of both Chem and Organic Chem, and I got in to RCSI. I also went to a very competitive university, took biochemistry as a senior, and scored a 10 on the bio part of the MCAT, all of which probably helped.

Hey. Is physics required for Irish schools, I know SOME schools in the states dont require it, as well as the Carib, what about in the UK? 😕

Not sure if they require physics actually. Might depend on the school too. I'd email the ABP for details, or even email the schools directly.

I have 3.6 sci and overall GPA....and i have 21 on MCAT....what are my chances? I am planning to take MCAT again, but just wanted to know what my chances are. And do you guys know if Ireland has January admissions? I am still researching the schools...any help with be great!

Thank you!

Don't really know but a 21 MCAT is a pretty big liability. Just my hunch but I think the standardized measures count a lot in both directions (MCAT and USMLE/Canadian boards) because it's so hard to objectively compare/assess grades when you cross the Atlantic. I'd expect that MCAT scores like that will sink you here as at home. Caribbean is probably you're only hope with scores like that and even then, probably just the lower tier carib schools.

I'm sure if you write again you will do much better, I'd recommend the re-write for sure. As for Ireland, a few of the schools don't look at the mcat so I'd apply for those worst case scenario(Trinity, NUIG). Now I'm almost 100% sure they do not have a January session so if you haven't applied yet you would have to wait until November to applying for the following year. Your first priority should be focusing on up grading that mcat, if you really want to start soon, I'd look into the Caribbean schools like Saba and ross maybe, those have January and May sessions.

PEACE!

thanks for the reply guys! Yeah my goal is to take it again, and apply for SGU's January session. I will apply to Ireland at the same time for following year depending on how my scores turn out. What is a good MCAT for Ireland?

Thanks!
