I was just wondering if anyone had seen any significant aamc practice score jumps within like 2 weeks before the test? or are the scores pretty much stablized by then? I want to improve 3-4 scores but wondering if its possible before 1/31.

hey fellow buckeye...

Yes, it is very possible, however, i'd avoid taking the real thing until everything stablizes... score jumps mean that you're still learning/forgetting/memorizing/understanding, and that you're still somewhat feeling your way and finding your niche (at least in my opinion).

P.S. I just saw your MDAPPS where you mentioned your practice scores. Bumps of 2-3 points are pretty normal actually. I'd still keep on practicing till you find yourself being more consistent with your results. You'll be fine by 1/31.

good luck!!!:luck:

i suppose if you've never taken a practice test and then suddenly took a few before the test, yeah they might jump. personally i had exactly the same composite score for the last 5 or 6 AAMC exams (i did them all) and this was the same score i got on the actual thing.

obviously its possible especially if you get lucky and the passages are your specific expertise, but it can also go the opposite way. i notice on your mdapps your scores on each individual section do change quite a bit between exams but the overall score hinges around 34. hope for the best of course, but my experience suggests the AAMC exams are a good indicator of the real deal.

My highest practice score grade was a 32 and then I got a 36 on the actual exam.

i had a similar experience. my actual score was 4-5 points higher than my practice tests. from my experience as well as others i've talked to, many times the practice tests are more difficult than the actual exams.

I was averaging a 36 on the practice tests, got a 35 on the real deal. Practice tests are a pretty accurate representation of how you'll do on the exam. With that said, I wasn't getting consistent 36s on the practice tests--I scored as high as a 40 and as low as a 31. My last few practice tests started to even out around a 36 though.

Jumps are definitely possible, and I think it's more a function of learning the "game" of the mcat than it is packing your brain with more info.

Just make sure you're not overdoing it with regards to practice tests.
For a month after my TPR course, I took every aamc test I could find. I reached a high of 37/36 halfway through, but as my test date neared I began dropping, ultimately scoring a 33 on my last two which extended to my actual test. Really would've loved those FOUR POINTS though...

Point is, increases are def. possible, but so are point drops. Don't wear yourself out prematurely by stressing over/pounding out practice tests...
Pace yourself.

wow, my score went down. A lot of people I have personally talked to on my campus (on my same test date) had similar results. I was averaging a 32-33 and ended up with a 28.
