Is it smart to get a PhD and MBA at the same time?

Just trying to see what are the pros and cons of this. I'm assuming it would be very demanding time-wise, and potentially problematic in terms of balancing scheduling. However, those two factors aside, what else comes to mind? I would really like to do the MBA along with my PhD, if possible, because I think it will be beneficial to obtain the skills developed through the thought process of business school courses.

Thoughts?

Can you be enrolled in both programs concurrently? But if you can knock out both at the same time, why not, if that's what you want. That said, my gut tells me that your PhD department would have an issue with you being enrolled as a student in the MBA program at the same time.

Most joint PhD/Other degree programs have distinct portions (eg. years 1-3 Other degree, years 4-9 PhD, year 10 other degree).

I think I could enroll in both, as one program can be done part-time or online. I'd love to get both degrees if possible. I'm going to a visit day tomorrow and plan to ask them this question in person. Thanks for your insight Stories!
