I am glad Im not the only one that feels this way, so perhaps you have a list of schools that I might have a chance at?? I am not very good with finding these as I said earlier and would love some help and direction with that
Well, just to rebut a little, I know that a 23 is subpar on the MCAT, I was consistently scoring 29-32 on all of my practice tests and while I do get nervous for tests, it is only the big ones, I am fine on exams in classes....anyway, I know that this is something that I need to work on, and I think others are in the same boat......it is hard not to get nervous when you know that so much is riding on a single test!
Anyway, to get to the point of my post:
Here are the schools I applied to and their averages, as I understand them, and how they told me they view MCAT scores:
WVSOM: average MCAT 23, average GPA: not sure, committe does not have set way to look at MCAT scores...talked to director of admissions and he said this was to my advatage, but I didn't really understand what he meant
LECOM: average MCAT from website is around 24, GPA around 3.5, they take the highest score
PCOM: average MCAT around 24, take highest test, and GPA around 3.3
MSUCOM: (my in-state school) average MCAT: 26-27, average GPA: 3.5, they take the highest overall score
OUCOM: average MCAT: 25, take highest score from each section! GPA, not sure but around a 3.4 I think
PCSOM: average MCAT: 23, take highest composite score, average GPA: 3.2...This school is very big on rural primary care!
CCOM (which I was told by the adcom that I have basically no chance at with my MCAT score) average MCAT: 27, GPA: 3.5, they take the highest score overall
There are certainly others you amy want to add to this list. I have a preference to stay close to MI if at all possible
OK, so I hope that helps a little. I know that having a low MCAT sucks, but I do NOT agree that it makes us less competent, I have a 3.8 science GPA since freshman year when I had some family issues! WE CAN DO IT!! If this isn't your year, next year may be! But if you want it bad enough, GO FOR IT!!!! You will never succeed at anything that you don't try!
There's my bit of motivation for you, good luck this cycle!
