Initially, I didn't even look at DMUCOM because it is located in Iowa. After talking to a pharmacist that I work with, he said Des Moines is an awesome little city to live in and talked it up quite a bit to me. I also talked with an infectious disease doctor who graduated from DMUCOM and loved it as well. I looked into the school and the program looks really good and I suddenly find myself having an interest in DMUCOM. It appears the latest filing date for a primary is 2/1/15, with the latest secondary application filing date as 3/1/2015. My question is, is it too late to apply and expect an interview/acceptance? I will list my stats below.

OOS/Non-trad
cGPA: 3.62
sGPA: 3.81
MCAT: 28 (9P, 9V, 10B)
PharmD (great extra-curriculars/clinical exposure b/c of this)
2 Strong LOR's from D.O.'s

It would cost me an extra $110 to apply, so I am trying to decide if it is worth dropping that dough. Anyone else ever submitted an application this late and had good results?

Are you applying to other schools as well?

Depends if you already have a primary verified or not.

I have applied to many other schools. In fact I have been accepted at UNE. I am from New England, so going to a new part of the country is intriguing to me.

DMU is about 8k cheaper than UNE. Not that 8K a year is a HUGE difference, but I will already have huge loans from getting my pharmacy degree so every bit counts at this point.

Basically, do you guys think I will just be throwing away $110, or do you think I have a legitimate shot with my stats if I get my secondary in the day I receive it?

I think you have a decent shot if you get your secondary in ASAP. You're already accepted and going to be shelling out the big bucks next year, take the shot and see what happens. Best of luck

Would you go to dmu over one? Une is a good school and if you're from new england might as well go. Also if you go to dmu you will lose the deposit you're gonna have to put at une. Dmu vs une won't make much of a difference. You still stand a shot at DMU but even if you get in I don't think you should pick it over une if you're from new england. @Mad Jack goes to une if you want insight on the school.

In summary:my opinion just go to une forget dmu

If you can see yourself going to dmu over NE then put the $110 down and apply, it is late but see what happens

Yea, with your stats you will get in, so its more of an argument of whether you have enough money to drop money to apply, then to fly and interview, then to drop a second deposit. If the answer is yes, then it is worth checking out. Maybe you will like it more than UNECOM. But as far as physically being too late? Not for applicants like you... Good grades, good MCAT, pharm D, non-trad, DO letters. You got it for sure, if at the very least off a waitlist spot or something. The bigger question is whether you would pick DMU over UNE, and there is not really a way to know unless you visit and continue doing research. They both are very good programs, personally I would be happier at UNECOM and happier with the residency connections there (UNE --> Boston vs. DMU --> Chicago), but I would be happier with the cost of DMU which would translate into like 40-50K savings after interest.

My fiance lived in Iowa for 4 years doing his bachelor's, he would not let me apply there! Way colder than UNE (where I am attending) and there's only flat farm land out there. Ew, if you want to move out of NE there are much prettier and more eventful places.

I would agree with this a lot... It really is "god's country" with just endless skies and stuff... But having lived on the east coast, and worked in Maine, and now living in the midwest, I think the northeast is a significantly prettier place to live. And as I suggested earlier, I personally think Boston is a much better city than Chicago. It just feels safer and cleaner.

If you think you will like DMU more than UNE, it can't hurt. I am from the northeast, was accepted at UNE and then ended up taking acceptance at KCOM because I really liked the school better (don't get me wrong, UNE was great, but I personally liked KCOM more). After getting accepted at UNE I almost cancelled my KCOM interview. I am glad I didn't. You won't know if DMU is a better choice unless you apply and interview. It is getting a tad late in the cycle so I would decide quick though.
