Man, my health advisor said with my grades, most people get in the second year of applying. That pisses me off cause I'm old and can't really wait another year. What do you think with my stats?

21AA, 21TS, 25RC, 18QR, 21PAT

2.9 cGPA, 3.8 sGPA

I would like to hear what people think, especially if you've already applied multiple years.

Thnx

Sadly I have nothing to contribute to this thread except trying to convince the OP to cancel his new walker in the mail 🙁

Dude, the age range of people applying to dental school is huge. 31 is like the oldest i've heard. Youngest is prolly like 21.

The only thing I see that doesn't fit is your cGPA. I think the rest of your stats are really good. I don't see why your advisor would have said that. Just apply and good luck.

Flipping through the ADEA book, youngest I saw was 18 and oldest 40 something 😳!

Taylor, you have a lot to contribute. You have foresight beyond your years; this is evident by your awareness that you have nothing to contribute and your heart of gold which convinced me to return my walker and use the money instead for applications to more schools.

Man, to be 20, in college, and going after dentistry. You have a bright future.

To the OP: I think you can get in if you apply broadly. You have a great DAT (Love the RC - what is your method?) and great science GPA. If you wanted to hedge, I would say figure out what you need to do to raise your cumulative GPA above three for next cycle but I can see you getting in this cycle!

Thanks Yappy. I hope so. In terms of RC, I think everyone should read the passage before answering the questions; at least read half of it if its to much to comprehend and absorb. I use to be a writer so reading goes hand in hand. I think once you're in the testing center, you become more focus and it only helps in the moment.

Many pre-health advisors are bitter because they didn't make it into their chosen health profession. Apply but plan on taking classes this year to up your overall GPA (just in case you don't get accepted this cycle). I'm sure you're young- I'll be 40 when I apply next year.

Most health advisors who give crappy advice like this typically have to get a new job while you're in your second year of dental school. Sure, your cGPA is on the low end, but your DAT scores and sGPA more than show you are capable of making it in dental school. And don't feel like you're too old. I'm 29 now and I'll be 30 by the time I start dental school. Good luck.

Same with biology teachers. Most of them are med school rejects. There's one at my school who is always pissed off and has a 93 cutoff for an A and refuses to bump up anyone with a 92.9. Everyone is too scared to ask him for a recommendation because they feel he'll be ruthless enough to "un-recommend" them. He's always annoyed when people ask simple questions that most people just keep their mouths shut. I took three classes with this prick, got my A's but **** was it stressful. What a c*cksucker.

lol. I have had one of those teachers too! Why dont they be happy they have a comfortable tenured job making 6 figures? To me there would be worse things than teaching science/researching at a large university.
