Is it true that A+'s

count as 4.3's? I'm a little confused. If anyone has a link verifying it I would appreciate it!

I believe that is true, have seen quite a few reputable posters acknowledge it as a fact.

A+ = another great example of subjective grade inflation. To me, this is why the DAT is the best normalizing criteria to objectively look at applicants from across the country.

wish my school gave out A+s!!! my mom always asks me soo....did you get an A+ on your test?? howd your test go? u get an A+??
i think ive explained to her a dozen times theres no A+ , she doesn't seem to want to get it though.........

Yeah. It stinks. I'm not sure why some schools offer them. I would have gotten a couple if they offered them here. 🙁 Oh well.

Just doesn't make sense why they would count as 4.3 when it is clearly known that not every school offers them, thus making it an obvious advantage for those who attend schools that offer A+.

I don't see why they just aren't counted as 4.0 at least in the eyes of dental school admissions.

It's good and bad. At my undergrad you need a 97%+ in order to get an A+ and yes it is a 4.333. However, from 90-92.9% is A- and it's 3.666 which sucks. I'm not sure how other schools are but it really sucks to get a 92% in a class and not get the 4.0. For one of my classes I had a 92.7 and my instructor wouldn't bump it 0.3% to get the A. 0.3% made the difference between a 4.0 and 3.6..

On the other hand, it's kinda nice to get an 87% and get a little more than just a 3.0 for that class.

97%+---->A+=4.333
93-96.9-->A=4.0
90-92.9-->A-=3.666
87-89.9-->B+=3.33
83-86.9-->B=3.0
80-82.9-->B-=2.666 and so on

Also AADSAS calculates your GPA with +/- and without the +/-. They try to make it as fair as possible for everybody.

My school doesn't give A+ and a 90%-93% is considered an A- (anything above 93%, like 93.5% etc, is up to the teacher's discretion on what to give).

The argument is that at most schools 93-100 is an A which is a 4.0 and a 90-93 is an A- which is a 3.666. It's not arguing about +/- it's arguing that even on a +/- system there is no A+ to balance out the A- for most schools.

Like I said, I don't know how other schools work. I was just trying to explain how it works at my school. I wasn't aware that schools offered A- but not A+. In that case it would be a disadvantage not to be able to balance for the A-. Hopefully it won't make much of a difference at the time of applying though.

and some schools offer an A+, but it still only counts as a 4.0:scared:

um.........:beat:

get over it people

I don't even think it's a question of which schools give out A+'s but rather which professors. I didn't get an A+ in a course until last semester despite the fact that I know for a fact that I had gotten a total >98% in a class or two before.

It's more so a mix. The school has to allow it before the professors will.
