is it worth doing kaplan or falcon course

my question is, that is it worth doing crash courses for step1 given by kaplan and falcon.??, i recently finished all basic sciences, and was told by one of my friend who is doing residency now in cali, that he studied by himslef for 3 months and did pretty good in step1, he used kaplan videos and qbank. so if anyone else who has done step1 can share some experience on how you guys studies for it would be great.
