Is it worth doing PharmD and MBA in five years?
I've researched and found out that people with PharmD makes no less than $90,000.00 whereas people with PharmD and MBA makes around 110k.

Is anyone thinking of doing PharmD and MBA..

i was thinking of doing pharmd/phd

if you can do it and get accepted into the combined program, go for it!

I think a Pharm D and a MBA sounds very interesting. Are there schools that offer one program that combines the 2?

google is your friend. search for it, and you're bound to find a bunch.

i am pretty sure the curriculum is very tough..
what kind of job can you get afterwards

^^ yeah. what exactly do you want to do with a pharmd and a MBA?

for one, it would stand out when you look for jobs because they are saying that pharmd graduates are coming out in droves and with an MBA, you would be able to business administration, being higher up than just a pharmacist.

basically, pharmacist with a strong business background and something to show for it.

Idaho State has a PharmD/MBA program. It's possible to graduate with both at the same time, but it's a lot of work. Three of my friends (two in my class, one in the class above me) are currently in the combined program. They are really stellar students, but I still have no idea how they have time to take all of our normal pharmacy classes plus 1-2 upper division business courses each semester. They also have to take summer courses.

If I had any inclination to go into upper management I'd consider doing the MBA. Like other posters have said, extra education can never hurt you - it can only help you get ahead of the rest of the pack.

Edit: I thought that I would add that of the three students I know in this program, two of them have undergrad degrees in business or economics. One of them is also the daughter of the owner of a local grocery store chain, so she's getting the MBA with the intent of being able to take over the entire pharmacy division when she graduates. The third person is our APhA-ASP president, on the executive board of my school's Phi Delta Chi chapter and is also active in school-wide government. The first two (with business B.A.'s) also have two kids each. Talk about super-students!

That's also my concern. I thought about doing PharmD MBA, but is it really worth the extra year and money?? cause we won't have much business experience when we graduate. Does the MBA degree really make us stand out, without any concrete business experience to back it up?

You can get a pharmD/MBA from U of Maryland or Pacific U in 4 years if you plan your schedule right!

i'm actually seriously considering it! only drawback is, tuition becomes ultra expensive when you get a dual degree... 🙁
