Is it worth my time/money to add schools this late in the cycle?????

Hey everybody!! Glad to see that many are getting interviews! Good job. well, I'm a little worried right now b/c I'm starting to realize that i should have applied to way more schools early on when I first submitted my appl. I only applied to 6 and so far have been rejected by 2 (still under review @ others) and not received any invites : ( I'm thinking seriously about adding some more schools to my appl. right now. but i'm wondering if its too late to bother now????? I don't mind having to pay the extra money if its worth it. I am a reapplicant and really want to get into dental school!!! My appl. was completed on July 7 and mailed out Aug.8 So I know it would only take aadsas 2-3 wks to send it off to any additional schools, so my question is should I add more now??? i really think i need to increase my chances, even if it is this late in the game since i havent gotten interviews...although i can't add any schools that dont accept a 14 in a section on the DAT. I'm also thinking of taking dat a third time if necessary(whatever it takes!!)

GPA overall: 3.32
GPA sciences: 3.22
DAT 1st time/2nd time:
AA=18/19
PAT=14/17
QR=16/14 😡😡🙁
RC=18/23
Bio=17/20
GC=18/20
OC=21/21
TS=18/20

So, please if anyone has any opinions(good/bad/encouraging/or not) i don't care just looking for some helpful advice from other predent students!! Help me please. I'm thinking of adding BU, NYU, Creighton, Temple.....

Not sure about Creighton but the other 3 are schools worth adding. By the way, your perseverance is admirable and the fact that you're a reapplicant can only help you. Great job on the RC, it will definitely help offset that 14. Be sure to check school cutoffs just in case.

hey northside, thanks alot, appreciate the reply : ) i think i will definitely start by adding BU, NYU, and Temple. Do you happen to know if Temple has a cutoff for DAT scores? I didn't see anything specifying that on their website....i'll just call them tomorrow i guess. Oh yah, do you know if Tufts is really strict with the LOR's?? I think it'd be smart to add them too but I don't have an LOR from a Bio professor(as they specify they want)...but instead from a chemistry and physics prof.

I say just DO IT! Spending a couple of hunderd dollars is worth increasing you chances of starting dental school and graduating it one year earlier.
Do a quick research to know what schools still have enough invitations left for interviews, and go for it ASAP. GL

Why not?

As u said about urself, u are a late applicant. (I am not 100% for sure about this, though!)

Then, I would apply to more schools to increase ur chance.

From there, it all depends on exceeding your own expectation in terms of luck!

Otherwise, regrets will settle in due to few applications u made, which u can change now~

So, I would do it if it's what u can do and make change of now!!

You might as well add more schools, why not? Increase your chances. It's just money lol 😛

Though if you don't have an acceptance by Dec. 1st, You might want to re-take the DAT again. Your stats would be good a few years ago, but it's so ridiculously competitive this cycle, and a 14 QR is tough to offset. Some schools are cool with it, but others have cut-offs. We all hope you won't need to re-take, but if you do, get Crack DAT Math, and if you can get the same scores on everything and raise QR by 2-3 points, then you'd have a sweet 20 AA 🙂
