Is leaving the mcat feeling good a bad thing?

My opinion is that the answer to your question would depend on WHY a person is feeling good about their score.

I would say that all of the reasons below are valid reasons to feel good except for #4.

1. A positive attitude.
2. A sense of relief. (Thank goodness it's over.)
3. Satisfaction with personal performance regardless of the test's difficulty.
4. Getting an easier version, more steeply scaled, MCAT, and feeling like you did well without articulating why.
5. Getting a normal or difficult version of MCAT where the "challenges" matched your most skilled areas.
6. Getting an easier MCAT and remembering that you either KNEW the answer to most of the questions or had good evidence for the right answer to all but <5 questions per section. And that you didn't guess on more than 5 questions per section.

Well I felt good about my second retake and did soooo much better. However I felt HORRIBLE about my BS section, and awesome about my PS section. In the end BS was higher than PS.

#6 on the exam there were a few i was unsure of but i ended up getting them right after i double checked after the exam.

My aamc's were 28 29 29 30 35 35 31
I think there was a big jump cause i started incorporating some sports psychogy techniques into my exams to improve my performance. Its all mental game!

Why would it? Not to be rude but I don't understand the point of this question. Feeling confident means that you weren't shocked by many (or maybe any) material and you didn't skip any passages or questions. Obviously that's a pretty good thing and it should play out in your favor for the test.

I mean, don't trust your post-test feelings to gauge your performance on the test. But hopefully this means you scored your average or maybe even better.

Good advice! Thank you!

I felt awesome about my 8/9 test and ended up scoring right at my average, though with a different distribution. 12/12/12 = 36. My feeling is that it was a relatively straightforward exam (thus with a harsher scale). The VR was a complete joke.

I felt very good about my test leaving the exam center. I slept well the night before, tried to calm my nerves the best I could, and ended up scoring 2 points above my AAMC average. I feel like I'm the exception, because many who say they almost voided end up scoring amazing, but it is possible to feel good about the test afterwards and have that be a good thing.

I don't think that would be a bad thing if you finished all the sections in time and you were confident throughout the test. On my first of two attempts this summer, my post test feelings were quite accurate. I felt bad about PS, good about VR, and absolutely terrible about BS. My scores fit into those rankings-9/13/8-athough I didn't think bio could have possibly been that low. Got back to studying for another month, did a retake, and felt much better. Hoping my post-test feelings are still accurate!

I left the exam feeling pretty good, and it was only in the following weeks that I started feeling bad about it. I scored about 1-2 points higher than my average

Same here. Just give it time. You will feel worse eventually.

Took the 9/11/13 (still waiting for score) exam and felt like it was a missed opportunity coming out of it. I mean I finished all three sections with time remaining to check a few answers so I'm satisfied in that regard but overall I felt, even if I didn't get my score yet I know I could've scored better, absurd huh? But there are several questions that are KILLING ME! Like I'm thinking about these questions every day like -- omg why did I put that answer?! 😡 Like that one orgo questions where I was too stubborn to draw out the mechanism even though I had like 30 seconds left, I had it down to 50/50 and I just chose an answer. Right after the exam finished and before the trial section I drew out the mechanism and got immediately pissed off because I had time to draw the mechanism and if I would have I would've chose the other answer that I chose. 😡

But overall I felt pretty neutral coming out of the test. I know there are several questions that I KNOW I got wrong but I'm expecting around my average but I'd be more surprised if I got lower than my average than higher.

I guess i just dont know what to expect and i dont want to expect a good score cause if i dont get one ill be pretty disappointed.
