Hi, I am new to SDN. I get the feeling that med school life is very boring on a day-to-day level, unless you fit into one of the following groups:

1) you are married, have kids, or have a significant other
2) you are a gunner and enjoy (or are used to) studying all day, every day, without complaint
3) you are already boring so don't really notice
4) you are antisocial

For those of us who are single and are tired of studying and staying in the apt all day, what to do? I love playing tennis, but tennis needs a good partner to hit the ball back! Coordinating schedules and finding a decent player is not easy..grr.

Do others out there feel the same way?

😱

I am #3 and partially #4, but would still go crazy if I didn't exercise every day. Exercise is my stress relief, my boredom killer, my . . .um . . .unmonotanizer. 😎 . And fortunately for me, my favorite exercises can be done alone, like running, working out, biking, etc.

Exercise is good, and a lot of schools have extracurricular activities planned for the students (well, more like the class officers have activities planned), so you ought to talk to your representatives

Med school can be boring if you let it be...the key is to have something outside of school that's enjoyable and a stress reliever.

It's good that you like tennis, I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to play with....

For me, I run and like to rock climb. Even when school is at its busiest and most hectic, I make time to do something not school related. If I don't, I go crazy. Hopefully you'll find the time for yourself so you don't go nuts!

good luck 😀

Yes! I agree. Unfortunately, my friends are all #1 or #3 and I am none of those...so I find it is hard to get a group to go out and socialize as they all want to spend time with their sig.other when not in class. Weekends are the worst. I actually look forward to weekends before exams because it means I'll get to spend time with my friends in the library and taking study breaks and doing mini review sessions. I joined a gym last year and found another classmate at the same gym to meet up for aerobics classes with and tried to be active in getting clubs going and having meetings/events outside of the school day. I'm sure once third year hits, none of this will be a problem as I'll be glad just to sleep during weekends if I'm not on call.
