Hi everyone,
I’m new to posting on SDN so I apologize if this is redundant.

I took my first Kaplan practice test today and got the following scores:

Bio 320
Gen chem 340
Orgo 250
Phys 270
QR 270
Reading comprehension came up as 200 because 0 questions were answered...I don’t know if the program crashed or what but I never saw the section come up at all. My AA came out as 280 due to this...based on my other Kaplan practice questions for RC, I expect a 380 in RC, which would bring my AA to a little over 300 for this first practice.

I am aiming to increased my orgo and quantitative reasoning scores. Physics was low because I hadn’t memorized many equations, but I will be doing that.

My GPA is 3.8. I’m a non-traditional student so I work full time during the summers - my prep time for the OAT has been shorter for that reason. I feel like 300 isn’t bad for my first practice test. I am planning to take 3-4 more exams in addition to more practice problems in weak areas. My test is in 2.5 weeks.

Even if things don’t improve hugely, has anyone else applied with similar GPA and ~300 OAT and gotten accepted?
It's a practice exam. That's your baseline upon which you should strive to improve. Kaplan has its guarantee, so do your homework so you qualify for it. If you think the computer crashed because your RC section has no answers recorded, take it again. It's a practice exam. Do it over. Like a sim lab, you can make mistakes and try again.. Don't freak out based on your first practice exam result; just work hard.

Welcome to SDN! This is known as the Confidential Consult Forum, where you can have verified experts answer your questions. If you'd like advice from your peers about whether or not you're on the right track, I'd suggest posting this in the Pre-Optometry forum, which is here: Pre-Optometry
