Hi,

I currently have a 3.48 Science GPA and a 3.375 Overall GPA after grade fixing. I am wondering if I should retake a course I did very poorly on my freshman year. A 4.0 in this course will bring my overall to a 3.419. Also, would it be advisable to retake a computers class which would then bring my overall GPA up to a 3.441.

I am currently studying for my MCAT which I will be taking in May/June.

thank you for an input

Thank you for your response. I greatly appreciate it

You're good. I'm sitting at 3 acceptances with a 3.3 c/sgpa and 506 mcat.

study for ze mcat
do not apply md unless you are URM

That GPA is fine! A top notch MCAT score could even sneak you into a state or low tier MD, given the GPAs aren't based on retakes. If so then just focus on doing well on the MCAT and going to the best DO school you can

Thank you for everyone's previous advice. After this grade replacement bomb that was dropped my current overall gpa is a 3.3 and my science gpa is a 3.17. I was a business management major so I have 58 credit hours of science courses and 2 upper levels. A 2.5 in cell molec (taken at my university) and a 4.0 in biochemistry (through une online med courses) . I had retaken both organic chemistry courses (retakes were a 3.5 and a 4-one through my university and one through une) and I retook a plant bio course (going from a 2.5 to a 4 at my univeristy). I am currently preparing for my mcat, but I'm not sure how viable my application is. I have shadowed 2 doctors(1 do), I volunteered 2 years at a hospice (both the inpatient area and the home health area), 10-20 hours in an er (which I stopped due to the lack of patient experience). I had a fellowship in the presidential campaign and research for 3 years. I'm soon to be 27 years old if that matters.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on how I should move forward

Apply broadly, especially targeting the newest schools. Continue to take post-bac coursework and ace them to raise your GPA.

Would courses like genetics through UNE online suffice?
