does anyone know who D.O. friendly is new york state is? Especially westchester county. What about obtaining allopathic residencies in westchester country like anesthesia? Comlex accepted??

New York and friendly should never be used in the same sentence for any reason.

New York is a very DO friendly state from its residency programs to practice opportunities. If you are interested in a particular program, you would need to contact that facility.

I agree, as a long time new york state resident i tend to agree, but i would like to stay in new york where i can get residency and a job if i were to become a D.O. Especially in westchester, where i am now.

NY is DO friendly, and depending on your future specialty (board scores etc.) a residency should not be a problem. As for Westchester County, once you complete your training DO behind your name will not limit your employment opportunities. One of the largest medical groups in the County has plenty of DO internist, family medicine docs and other (DO) specialist. Just to let you know NYCOM has matched several students at WMC for OB/GYN, internal medicine, anesthesia, peds and psych. Good luck.

I have a question but how do NYCOM students pay for their housing? Are loans enough to cover the expense, b/c I hear Westbury is very expensive

Well, the loans will pay for housing, but food and clothes......... you're on your own. Good Will and a garbage can have saved me plenty of times.
