I sent my signature form to NSU about two weeks ago, but on the webstar site, it indicates it hasn't been received it. it doesn't help that the admission is nearly impossible to get in touch with. should i wait it out a few more days or should i send in another one, this time being certified or priority mail? i am sending it from california, so could that be a factor? (I noticed mail is really slow these days..)

I got emails whenever they received my stuff. I don't think webstar ever updated for me.

I could link to at least 10 posts from this season where current students attest to NSU's infamy in application handling. Current applicants haven't exactly proven these walking testaments wrong, either. 😉

thanks for the reply!

so should i wait, call, or send another one?

You move it over to the NSU thread and then you call and hassle them until you're assured.

I called them a millllion times before finding out they did have my signature page since sept. 22nd...and they still have notttt changed my webstar status. Soo if you sent it in relatively soon they most likely have it, but I would definitely continually call them still. I got through in the morning..maybe that will work for you!

The same thing happened to me. I never received e-mail notifications and my webstar did not show receipt of my signature page.

Yes. They lost my whole application last year. AFTER the secondary fee was paid, of course. By the time I figured it out I was already accepted at AZCOM and KCOM, so I didn't bother to follow through with it.

Two years in a row they keep losing stuff and whenever I speak to different people they tell me conflicting things. Honestly I no longer want to go to NSU because of how disorganized their admissions department is. I have an acceptance somewhere so i'll be fine.

as further evidence of the craziness of applying there, i was invited there for an interview about a week after submitting their sec. app. but without having anything else in So in those two weeks before the interview i had to rush to interview with my pre-health committee, get my DO letter, and mail that sig page in. then when i get there they have me sign another one cuz they never got mine

Yeah they're quite weird. I wish they were more organized b/c I only live about an hour away and it would have been nice to go to school there and keep the same place, but what can u do. meh...

What? You got an interview invite without your signature page or LORs? Wow, you must have some stats! Could you please tell me what they are?

That's a shame, it's an amazing school.

I'm not sure, but I THINK that schools often grant interviews before files are complete, you have to get all your stuff in before they'll meet on you for admissions though.

Be careful about judging a school based on how well the admissions office is run. Some really great schools have admissions offices with lackluster performances. PCOM, for example, has a reputation for being slow to answer and not returning calls. There's usually a complaint thread about them that pops up every cycle. Yet, they continue to have more applicants than any other school year after year because they have a good reputation educationally. I had other reasons why I didn't like NSU all that much.... but it might be a good fit for you if you give them the benefit of the doubt.

I think he's right about getting interviews before being complete isn't anything too crazy, i've even heard of invites coming with your secondary at Western U
anyways i have a pretty lackluster GPA (3.28 cGPA, 3.08 sGPA) and an MCAT of 33M (12 P, 11 V, 10 B) which might have helped

Wow on your MCAT!

And I know CCOM and a couple others sent invites with secondaries; I just didn't think NOVA was one of them.

Wowon your MCAT! I think NOVA is sending to people with high MCAT scores. That's where I fail, my gpa is strong. 🙁

High MCAT here. Nova = crickets. Chin up.

Eh. There isn't a set formula with nova. I have about the same gpa and much lower mcat and I got an interview invite within a week or two of submitting. My stuff was in there pretty fast and I didn't have any problems. I just think that the office is aware stuff gets lost, and they really don't care about the papers that much as long as they are in before it heads to committee. I've seen other people with mediocre stats at other schools that didn't have all their letters in. It happens. Sometimes I feel it is more of an indicator of what is weighed more.

I was never officially rejected at Nova, just never heard back. I'm still holding out hope for the Class of 2012. 😉

yeh im pretty average in respect to MCAT and GPA and i got an invite within a week of sumitting their secondary... I dont know.. i didnt have any problems with NOVA, well except being able to view the secondary that they sent back to me for my review..
