Navy guy here just wondering whether rotating at a Naval hospital in October is too late for residency selection procedures for that same year (i.e. rotating in october of 4th year). Thanks

No. The selection board does not meet until the week after Thanksgiving. Back in the hoary days of yore when I was a 4th year med student, i rotated in October at the hospital for which I am now a resident.

Rotating in October is just fine. The impression in the minds of the Power That Be may even be fresher. While the selection board meets in late November, there may be some...anomalies with regards to when people are actually chosen for spots.

I spoke to a program director on the phone and he specifically told me that October was a perfectly fine time to rotate, especially since we students all think that it's too late, so there aren't likely to be a lot of other students there at the same time.
