Hello,

I am filling out the application for the upcoming cycle and remembered that back when I was in high school I had an infraction for "disturbing the peace" that was dismissed. I should have had my records sealed so I'd never have to worry about this, but I totally forgot about it. Is this something to report? The previous threads on this are unclear and I know that both application servicers only ask about misdemeanors and felonies. I called AACOMAS and they did not directly answer the question.

Thanks all.

When in doubt, read the instruction manual.
Google AMCAS instruction manual 2017
The section you want starts on page 33.
There are a million different variations depending on your state of residence. Also, uniformly, "You must indicate whether you ever been convicted of, or pleaded guilty or no contest to, a Misdemeanor crime, excluding 1) any offense for which you were adjudicated as a juvenile, 2) any convictions which have been expunged or sealed by a court, or 3) any misdemeanor convictions for which any probation has been completed and the case dismissed by the court (in states where applicable)."

It appears that this was not at the level of a misdemeanor and you were not convicted or plea out, and if you had gone to court, you would have been treated as a juvenile. So it seems that there are several reasons why this doesn't rise to the level of something that should be listed.

Yes, thank you for your interpretation. I found the AACOMAS to be more vague, however.

Misdemeanor:
You must answer “Yes” to this question if you have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor. If your response is “Yes”, you must provide a full explanation in the designated box. If you are convicted of a misdemeanor prior to matriculation, it is your responsibility to IMMEDIATELY inform your designated program(s).

Felony:
You must answer “Yes” to this question if you have ever been convicted of a felony. If your response is “Yes”, you must provide a full explanation in the designated box. If you are convicted of a felony prior to matriculation, it is your responsibility to IMMEDIATELY inform you designated program(s).

Nothing is mentioned about infractions. I guess I am being paranoid.

Nothing is mentioned about being sent to the principal's office in grade school either. If it isn't mentioned, don't worry about it.

No guess about it, you are paranoid (see my signature, it isnt there to be funny). This doesnt have to be reported to either AMCAS or ACCOMAS

Lol thanks for the input from Buffalo
