I am finishing up my regular school and would like to continue on to pharm school but i read some of these posts and it scares me would i be wasting my time by the time im done will there be as good of a salary and a decent job market or will i have missed out

I think what you should be thinking about is whether or not you actually enjoy the practice of pharmacy. Six years from now the salary or the job market won't matter, what will matter is whether its a profession you ACTUALLY want to be a part of. Yes, I understand that you want a future with job stability and good pay, but that shouldn't be your main concern.

awful decision. in six years jobs will not simply be given out and you may actually have to have more than a pulse to get hired.

i have more than a pulse and thanks for the info once again im just worried about putting all my time money and effort into this if it wont pay off in the end i do enjoy the field of pharmacy and find it interesting

There is nothing wrong with being concerned with financial stability. However, don't just go into pharmacy (or any profession for that matter) because of the salary or you may not enjoy what you get yourself into.

I wonder how many students here would still choose pharmacy if the salary was, say, 50K instead of 100K. There is nothing shameful about admitting that you want to live a comfortable lifestyle. But at least pick something you truly enjoy/want to be a part of. There are other ways to make money (and with less debt!). Anyway, don't worry about the job market. It will be just fine. I suggest searching the forum a bit because this topic has been discussed before 🙂 good luck!

ever heard of expiration dates? unfortunately the pharmacy profession expires in 2011. no one will be able to get any more jobs ever, and eventually will be fired to be replaced by robots.

honestly, just do whatever career you love, and jobs arent really important. I know i'd still be happy if i could only work part time.
