I am interested in pharmacy. But my science grades don't show it. I mean I understand the material, but its those little perks that degrade me. I got a C+ in bio honors last year. Right now, I got an B+ in chem reg(quarter 1) and have a B- right now. I don't know what to do anymore. Is pharmacy really for me?

Let me start by saying that High School grades don't matter one bit for professional school admissions. College is a completely different environment, so don't be choosing your career based on how decently you do in your high school classes. I almost got a D in Honors Chemistry in high school, but got an A when I took it in undergrad.

Also, be sure that you want to enter pharmacy for the right reasons - you should really shadow a number of different types of Pharmacists to see if it's really for you, as well as other health professions just to prove to yourself that it's pharmacy, and not anything else you want to enter.

Good luck, and don't stress!

I feel the same way! I'm currently in grade 11 and getting a mid-B in Chemistry 11 which is decent but I think when deciding if it's the right career for you, you shouldn't look at grades so much. They matter of course, to test your ability but think more about what Pharmacists do and if you could see yourself doing it. I understand why you're worried - I feel like if I don't do amazing in high school sciences I won't do good in University Pre-Req's and I won't be accepted into a Pharmacy program! However, I think once you have a desire for something you'll be able to do just fine - Really, only you can decide if Pharmacy is the right path for you 🙂 Good Luck!

High school grades don't necessarily predict your college/grad school grades. I barely passed high school chemistry, yet I got an A in all 5 of the chem classes I took in college.

Noone on here can decide which career is best for you.

Shadowing a pharmacist will answer your question. I enjoy chemistry a lot, but recently discovered that pharmacy just doesn't fit my personality. Try to get in touch with a hospital's HR department and see if they would be willing to let you spend a day with one.

I don't believe that high school grades will reflect your grades in college. My physician had a 3.2 in high school and ended up attending Pitt's Med School (14th best in country).

The most important thing to do during high school to prepare you for college is to BEGIN to learn how to study. I say begin, because most people really don't understand the intensity until they are in the middle of it. Little things you can do involve getting into a regular study routine, learning to block time off and thinking of your schedule and learning to sacrifice fun for work once in a while. In college, if you learn to schedule, study a bit every day (and a lot as exams approach), and sacrifice fun once in a while then you are well on your way to success.

High school grades don't really mean too much. I did miserable in a few classes at first. I thought I was working really hard. I then found out I needed a 100 to actually get my B- in the class and graduate with honors. I studied with a fervor I didn't know I had. I smoked the test. (110% after bonus+curve when the next highest was in the 80s) Most people can do the same. They just have to put that extra effort into it.
