Hi,

Is General Physiology necessary to take for dental schools or do most schools view it as "recommended course"? Has anyone gotten accepted into a dental school without taking physio?

Thanks!

Its a recommended course for most schools. However, some schools require the class. I know that its required for UNLV and ASDOH...

It is 100% possible to get accepted without it! You can also get into schools that require it without taking it and just by putting it in your PLANNED courses on AADSAS.

What @DentistJoon said. To build upon that... Physio is also a good class to take to prepare for the DAT as it is an all-encompassing subject and teaching yourself all the concepts may be challenging. It'll also only help you acclimate to the learning curve you'll experience in dental school. If a d-school looks at your transcript and sees you ace an anatomy course as well as a physiology course then that's encouraging to them (since you'll be taking an anatomy/physio course with them).

Will you get your admission rescinded if you end up not taking it? On a side note, do you know if the schools that require it want General Anatomy/Physiology or will a physiology elective suffice?

If the school requires it and you don't take it then yes.... but if they do not require it and you do not take it it's fine.
