I currently wrapped up my interview dates to the three schools I applied to in Texas. My stats are ok, 3.85 gpa; 3.82 Science; but a 17 AA and 19 PAT, but nowhere near the 19.7 Dat average every school reports of having.

My question is regarding feedback from your interviewer. In houston I interviewed with the head of orthodontics and at the end of the interview he told me his only concern was my DAT but after talking, his reccomendation to the board would be yes. Also in Dallas my first interviewer said the same thing about my DAT score but as I walked out said, " I'm sure you will be hearing from us in December."

How common is it to actually be told by the interviewer what their reccomendation towards admissions will be? Or should I just ignore the comments because they say it to everyone? Thanks

Positive feedback is always better than none or negative feedback, so good for you.

I've know two guys who were straight up told at their interviews that they were going to be getting in Dec. 1st. One of the guys was told by Nova that he was in for sure, so he didnt go to the other 4-5 interviews he had and the other guy was a friend of mine who was told by UNLV that he was going to get in, he had the common sense to continue to interview. The point is, neither of them got into those schools. My friend who was a very competitive applicant got into other schools and started a few weeks ago, the other guy is at Pacific now after completing a masters degree... if only he didnt cancel his other interviews...

I was told by an interviewer that he couldn't officially say because it's up to the admissions committee but he emphasized that I didn't need to worry. I like positive feedback but that statement drove nuts because that was my top choice. Thankfully, I did get in on Dec 1st but I also continued with other interviews up to that point. I feel that in a few of my other interviews I was told that they would recommend me or the interview was really positive feeling. But guess it does come down to the admissions committee.

Don't pay much attention to those comments. I got those same positive feedbacks from all 3 schools in Texas back in 2003 and didn't get any acceptance from them.

I was told by one school that I would be accepted and another that I was a very strong applicant...they both accepted me. So, my guess is that if they like you, they will tell you. Congrats on what appears to be an acceptance.

I hope your right, I received the same type of feedback.

well I bet it is. I mean I think it would be rare for interviewer to tell you to your face that you suck.

Exactly. This is the real world, folks. People don't always honor their "gentleman's" agreement, so nothing is knock on wood. If someone actually cancelled their remaining interviews just because one interviewer gave hints (wink-wink) that they are in, well I feel sorry for the guy but the person also needs more common sense.

Truth is, interviewers have a lot of power, but they can only do so much. If they really like you, but your stats are still not all that persuasive to the rest of the committee, then in the end you'd still be sitting on the fence even if they vouch their life for you.

Nobody said to cancel any interviews. Of course it isn't a garauntee at this point, not until Dec. 1st when those letters go out. I think that the OP can relax a bit as they proceed through the rest of their interviews though as it would appear that he or she will likely be accepted to that school.

I would feel happy, but I wouldn't let it excite me to the point where I didn't give my all at the rest of my interviews. Like everyone else said, until the letter goes out in December it means nothing. Good luck.
