I got the fee waiver for the MCAT and AMCAS application. Do I have to submit a seperate request for AACOMAS? Is it likely I'll get it being that I got it for AMCAS? I think AACOMAS only looks at your income and not your parents like AMCAS does. (my parents lost their jobs last year which i think helped)

thanks.

They are separate, and have separate applications. I don't know much else because I did not qualify.

Good luck.

AACOMAs only uses your FAFSA information. I don't know how they determine it, but if you qualify for Pell Grant, safe bet you'll qualify for AACOMAs fee waiver.

I already graduated and did not attend school in 2012 so i had to submit my tax information for the amcas app.

You'll have to do the same thing for the AACOMAS one. That being said, the main difference that I've heard of is that AMCAS offers a fee waiver to individuals whose income and parent incomes are below 300% of the poverty line, while AACOMAS offers a fee waiver to the applicants whose incomes are below 150% of the poverty line. This may have changed in the last year though.

Also, I heard that AACOMAS designates a certain number of schools you can apply a fee waiver to, so that also might be a factor.

You don't get as many primary fee waivers as you do for amcas, but then again there are less DO programs to apply to. I was able to get 90% of my secondaries waived through aacomas fee waiver program. Just be proactive and ask the admissions office about their policies.

edit: also, I remember I was noticed about my approval for my fee waiver through the aacomas private message board. I think I printed the page out as "proof" of my fee waiver status and it worked out okay for me.

You have to apply for aacomas fee waiver separately. I did both...wish I did it for the MCAT but I didn't know about it. You should qualify for it if you did for aacomas. Also, you can only apply to a limited number of DO schools on primary app. Contact schools about waiving secondary. I had basically all my AMCAS primary and secondaries covered except for a couple of schools.

I am an idiot for not applying for the fee waiver lol.
