I know it's very unlikely, but is it possible to be accepted to medical without needing to interview? I'm just wondering, if a person had awesome everything, if the adcoms would find it necessary.

PS- I am not even close to being awesome, so I will be inteviewing (hopefully)

Yeah but dang sometimes I do wonder....

Hey, didn't mean to annoy you. Sometimes I wonder too. Dang.

Come on guys, there's no such thing as a stupid question.

It must have happened to someone. Apparently, my friend's grandfather just signed up for a New York med school--either NYU or Columbia--in the 1930's. The school was actually holding up signs trying to recruit people. How different times are now...

Sure there is. If you seek proof, look about you.

im not sure
let me think................

NO!!!!

(just kidding - good luck)

There are situations where they know they're going to let you in, but have to do the interview as a standard procedure. They're also making sure you don't have a tattoo across your face like Mike Tyson.

I remember one of my friends told me he went to one of those adcom questionnare type events, just to get some general info on requirements. Apparently, one of the persons on the board said they look at the picture in your secondaries (I believe) in order to see if you "fit the bill." Although I agree it would be pretty strange to have a physician with a tattoo across his face, or anything else analogous to that, but I also don't find this kind of judgement to be legally valid. Maybe it was just at this one school in particular.

Well, I can think of some instances where an interview may not be required, but those cases are things like 7 year programs, or early assurance programs, or things like that. If you're doing the tradational route of doing your bachelors and then going to med school, than the interview is mandatory, unless you do something super phenomonal like perform CPR on the governor of your state and save his life and get nationwide press coverage 😛

Hey Tippy.

Interviews are almost ALWAYS required..

I wonder when the last time someone actually got in without an interview. Maybe back in the 60's or 70's some wierdo had like a 4.0/45?
