Is the Kaplan MCAT lesson book everything I need to know? And what's a "good score"

First time here so sorry if this has been asked before. I took the Kaplan course for the MCAT and all we used the entire time was the lesson book which we completed as we went through the entire course. I asked the instructor if we needed to use the other review notes books in addition lesson book and he claimed that it was only supplemental and that I should use it to help me understand something I'm having trouble with, otherwise not really. Because of this I never really looked through the review notes books to much but yesterday I cracked them open to find that there's so much other stuff in there that isn't really in the lesson book and the explanations go in depth far beyond what the lesson book says.

To anyone that's taken the kaplan course and perhaps the MCAT as well, is it fine for me just to be rock solid with all of the stuff in the lesson book or do I need to know all of the review notes as well? Did you guys also use the review notes much and study all of the little extra stuff? I find it hard to believe that the other things in the review note books could be useful but the course never spent any time on them. On the other hand it does seem like the things in the lesson book are more frequently occurring topics.

I was also wondering what a "good score would be". I've taken three practice MCAT exams and got 24 on the first (this was about a third of the way through the kaplan course) and I took one after I finished the course and got a 27. I had finals and I went abroad for most of the summer to work an internship so to be honest I didn't study much. I got back and just took my third full length and got a 23 🙁. I have 9 weeks left until my MCAT and I figured that a 32 or above would be "good" but I honestly don't know. Is it? Is it possible for me to get 32 or above in 9 weeks? I only have one class and one lab this semester as it's all I need to graduate and I plan on spending the rest of the time studying. Anyone done something similar to this or had success with 9 weeks of hauling ass?

I would personally suggest that you use course savers videos for any weak areas in content, buy Princeton review or Berkeley review books for your weak areas, and not do kaplan full lengths. They are pretty unrealistic compared to the real deal. Take AAMC3 to see where you're at. There's some stuff that Kaplan didn't do a great job at explaining, and other review books have suited me a lot better. 9 weeks is plenty of time to get over a 30.

By the way, the lesson book is good but please know that it covers probably about half of what you need to know. For example, I thought radioactive decay and whatnot was a rather uncommon thing to test based off Kaplans suggestions, and I had two entire passages on it on test day. Study EVERYTHING! It will seem intense at first but if you type up your own notes the first time going through the books and review them later, you'll be doing well.
