Hey everyone,

I took my MCAT in April, and I have a VR score that seems to be the only blemish on my application. I was wondering, if I submit my application now, and check off "planning to retake the MCAT" do my new MCAT scores automatically get sent in? My biggest fear is doing worse than before, even if my VR goes up, I'm worried my sciences will go down, especially PS. Can I submit applications now with my current score, and if I don't do better not send in the new scores?

No.
In fact, they won't even look at your app until you have your second one. Unless your VR <8, don't bother retaking.

My MCAT Score is a 28Q, 10Ps 7 VR and 11 BS. I really don't want to take the MCAT again, and I've heard that applying super early gives you a better shot. My EC's, GPA, research and volunteer services are solid, and the 7 in VR is the only thing holding me back.

I have a similar dilemma. Where are you applying?

thats a tough call. What is your GPA specifically, and are you applying MD only?

Whether you indicate your plans to retake the MCAT or not, the schools you apply to will be updated automatically with your new set of scores once they are released. Now, if you decide to indicate that you are retaking the MCAT, then the schools will wait until the second set of scores come in before reviewing your application. If you decide not to indicate that you are retaking the MCAT, then schools will go ahead and review your file with the set of scores your already have. The downside to this option is that schools may go ahead and make a final decision regarding your file before your second, and possibly improved, set of scores arrive.
