Is there a List of organic structures I need to memorize?

Is there a list of structures I need to memorize? I went through quicksheet for Kaplan, but I just encountered around 3 structures I didn't know about while taking practice test. Is there a good list somewhere? Things like imine, amine, etc.

You should know the functional groups, like thiol, amine, imide, ester, ether, carboxylic acids,....etc. It really shouldn't be too hard to find a list or to know which ones to memorize. Basically all of the ones you encountered in your ochem classes.

Do you also have the Kaplan organic book? They have a list of the functional groups to memorize.

ExamKrackers lists the following 11 as "must-know" functional groups:

1. amine,
2. amide,
3. carboxylic acid
4. aldehyde
5. ether,
6. ester
7. ketone
8. alcohol
9. alkane
10. alkene
11. alkyne

They have a second list of ~24 additional groups -- including aryl, mesy, tosyl, halides, epoxide, nitroso, nitro, nitrile, etc. -- that they say are "not as important," although they still strongly recommend an attempt at memorization. I can post that entire list as well if you like.

ohhh, i remember that list. it's in Examkracker. I think i skipped that page on my skim through all my material so i forgot there's a list. I have the EK books and BR books, but somebody stole my Kaplan orgo book.
