Is there a sterotype of an attending that tends to chew-out/degrade residents?

Certain speciality? Attending is big in size in comparison to the resident? Divorced? Male or female attending? Is a male or female attending more likely to be an a-hole to a male or female resident? Who tends to have the a-hole attitude? What's the stereotype, if any?

hmm.... are you having another one of your fantasies?

Define being an *******.

People just chalk it up to my height (I'm 4'11") and move on.

Not a good idea to blaze one before posting here. :nono:

Perry Cox is bull****. In the end, they make him have a heart underneath his callousness. He wouldn't be a good character otherwise. You'll meet plenty of MDs who are dirt on the outside, **** on the inside.

but if you want one specialty? Gen Surg... specifically vascular.

I don't know why people thought I wasn't being serious or that I was ****ed up on a drug. It was a serious question. Thanks to those who answered. I figured if their were sterotypical pre-meds and med students, then there were probably stereotypical attendings that are a-holes.

You'd be surprised. The most innocent appearing 5' tall female attending can be a b!tch while the giant macho male attending treats you with respect.

General surgery tends to be more intense than other fields, but I've seen no abusive gen surgeons at my home program. I'll report back in a year once I've started my training at another program (assuming I match at my top program).

As a sidenote, we have the most interesting group of vascular surgeons... very moody in a rapid alternating fashion... still not abusive, just interesting!
