Sadly, I got a 7 on my verbal score. However, I can explain it from my upbringing. I did get a 12 on Bio and a 14 on Physical. I graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree with a 3.75 cum gpa and a 3.8 science. I have very strong LOR's and EC's. I saw on the MSAR that the lowest verbal score they accepted was a 8. Do they have a cutoff or should I give it a shot? Thanks!

I would give it a shot, as long as you don't think you could improve your grade with a re-test. Just write very good essays so they know you can communicate intelligently with people.

That sounds like a cutoff to me. I would call them and ask if you're that concerned, rather than just sending your check in without knowing whether or not they'll even consider you.

The Dean last year told us herself that they have a cutoff where no section can be lower than 8. And that is averaged, if you've taken it more than 1x. So they average the sections individually, and each has to be 8 or better.

Is this screen presecondary or do they take your money first and run?

I got a 7 in a section and they sent me the secondary.

pretty sure it's take the money and run...msar says they send secondaries to everyone. the latest msar shows that they only accepted applicants with 8-15 on VR and BS and 7-15 on PS

When they average do they round it? I got a 6 the first time in verbal if i get a 9 from augusts exam will the 7.5=8 in their eyes?

I think they would take that since you got the 9, although you might want to ask.

On a side note, Jefferson's cutoff is 8 for each section but the median for VR is usually a 10, which means they take plenty of 8's and 9's
