This kind of question is typical on the physical diagnosis shelf and may appear on step 1. IIRC BCC has a pearly appearance, rolled edges and is associated with telangiectasias. The whole BS upper lip lower lip difference is only partially true and the may be used to mislead you.

BCC: PTCH gene - Pearly rolled edges || Telangiectasias || central ulceration || Highly invasive. Quick and dirty mnemonic. SCC is keratinized.

Melanoma: BRAF gene - Brain and Retina (metastatic or central loci), Asymmetry, Associated with dysplastic nevus syndrome, and Fair-skinned people for B-R-A-F. Seems to work sufficiently well here too.
